French Toast

Great for those of you with breadmakers! (The Welsh call it 'eggy bread' and serve it with tomato sauce. Yuk!)

  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 thick slices of bread
  • (from an uncut loaf is best)
  • Butter
  • Maple syrup

Beat the eggs, mix in the other ingredients in a large bowl. Dip each slice of bread into the mixture and turn them over. For really thick pieces, make sure you leave them in long enough for the egg mixture to soak well into both sides.

Fry in a buttered pan on medium heat until nicely golden. Serve with Maple Syrup.
